Rock Climbing Photo: Unnamed 5.3?
Unnamed 5.3?

Is this the correct route and if so, does it actually seem like 5.3 to people? I learned how to climb in Salt Lake City and this doesn't resemble any 5.3 that I've ever seen. In fact, I've never actually climbed a 5.3. It seems more like 5.7-5.8 to me. Does it seem like this to anybody else?

That's it. Welcome to the lake. You just have to get used to the style then it will seem on grade.

This is late for a response, but nevertheless: the route in the picture is Colostomy (5.7). The 5.3 route is a wide crack about 3 feet to the right of Colostomy (hard to see from the angle that picture is taken) and about as far to the left of the arete (Plank).

Gokul- I think you are mistaken on this. The corner to the left of the red line with the tree and bushes is Colostomy. If you climb the route with the red line you experience only 5.3 climbing.

I guess I must have misremembered where the wide crack was located. Apologies for any confusion I caused.

Fun chimney to squeeze and press your way up if you ignore the face holds.
