Gate Buttress Area Recreational Lease: Climbs on Church Buttress above vault remain closed MORE INFO >>>

Description

Start on the problem just left of Mike's Face(AKA Spike). A few moves on small edges gains a good edge in the middle of the face. Instead of continuning up, cut left using the rib features to head over the boulder leaning against the face. Top out once you get to the good holds.

Feels a little scary but you can step off at any moment.

Location

On Mike's Face Boulder.

Protection

A few pads.

FA? You can't be serious... Do yourself a favor and change it to "someone back in the 90s" and change the name to "SLC did Tennessee".
I always thought this was a tad harder than Mike's, probably V4

This thing required some serious cleaning. Lots of flakey rock and lichen. Seemed very fresh which is why I claimed the FA. If I am mistaken, I will happily change the name and FA info.

Hey Taylor, thanks for posting this. We climbed it maybe a week before you did, noticed it wasn't in the book but did not assume an FA. It seemed very clean and obvious that it had been done. . . I asked around and haven't found anyone that know's it's name, but yes its been done many a time for a long time. Its a good line!

Im always surprised to learn how thoroughly picked clean LCC is in terms of bouldering. No matter how obscure / crumbly the line, turns out someone has climbed it. Perhaps thats what all of this recent vandalism is about, someone just desperately wants an FA. . .

I have no time for petty arguments in my life. Especially about rock climbing.

Sorry if this post upset some people. I have tons of respect for the history of LCC and in no way am trying to rewrite that history.

To those who were rude, mean and disrespectful, I hope at some point in your life you learn it's not OK to be that way.

To those who were pleasant, I offer you a sincere thanks.
