The Undiscovered Country is a large area across the main trail from Trailside Boulders and Kung Fu Canyon as well as another portion which lies to the west of the main trail where it veers sharply south.

A good assortment of problems from V-easy to V13 are found here with the following being some of the better problems: Ride the Lightning (V0-), The Big Fish (V4), Black Cauldron (V4), Betelgeuse (V5), Tree Attack (V6), Enough Snuff (V7), My Infested Destiny (V7), The Singularity (V8), Soul Caliber (V10) and Somewhere in Time (V13).

Getting There

Hike past the Ranger Station, the trail junction and the turn-off for the Flash Gordon Area and continue along the trail as the Trailside Boulders come into view. Cross the creek at a fallen log opposite the arete of Gluttony (V8) and hike about 100 meters bearing slightly right to some obvious boulders at the edge of a small hillside - the Cassieopeia Boulder will be visible at this point.

Climbing Season

The crux is at the midpoint where it flares out. Solid hand, finger, fist jams as you go up. This climb is just out of reach of bouldering, unless your really good/crazy, and a little to short to lead. I would top rope. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in California

This area is by far the most confusing and spread out. But I still had a blast every time I got lost looking for something new.
