Falling (voluntarily?) off of Trout Fishing in Ame...


Traverse from right to left along the bottom of Gutenberger Wall. Climb this slippery slab past seven bolts to a two bolt belay then head up and slightly left past seven more bolts and meet up with grand central station.

I think you mean the traverse goes from climbers right to left.

During the right water level, this traverse becomes a perfect free solo with a clean fall into the water. Try to get it on your first try, cause it is way harder when your shoes are wet!

can someone give me a little beta on how to start this route? gone to check it out last weekend and could not figure out how to get to the first bolt since it was right above the water. just confused on where the belayer would be. any info is much appreciated. this looks like a rad route.

Sure! The trick to starting the route is to wait until the water level has gone down a bit. Then it becomes painfully obvious.
