My friend Alex and I tried our first big wall. We attempted South Face Washington Column! You can check out our trip report here!

Sounds like a good shake down cruise, now you are ready for the send.

Those awkward pitches above Dinner ledge are the bane of many wall babiez, no shame in being a little slow there.

Next Time: go as light as possible with the haul bag. Every gram of energy saved hauling makes it more likely you have it left to go for summit glory. :)

Nice one Alec! Washington Column is on my list, but I just want to have burgers and beer on the ledge: http://www.supertopo.com/tr/Birthday-Party-on-Dinner-Ledge/t10595n.html

Nice work and great write-up. Always good learning experiences on the first wall.

Bailing on your first Yosemite wall is a time honored tradition. I made it two pitches up Zodiac and came down. My one piece of advice from your TR is to ditch the dehydrated food and bring the good stuff. Either way you're bringing the water with you.
