Description

The area is south facing and will be windy if there is wind coming through Weber canyon. The area as far as I can tell has never been developed before now, and is very secluded, except for the abundant deer that are always up there. The rock type is granitic gneiss (technically quartz monzonite gneiss I believe), and quality is very good, but the rock can be a bit brittle.

Getting There

From downtown Ogden, get on Washington. Take Washington until it turns into US-89. Turn left on to Combe Rd. Turn right onto E 6500 S. Continue onto Bybee Dr. Turn right onto S 2850 E. Park in front of the empty lot to your left in the circle. Please car pool, there is no parking lot and parking a bunch of cars in residential parking can be burdensome for the locals. Here is the google maps directions: google.com/maps/dir/Ogden,+UT/...

After reaching the trail head, WALK SSW on a road, you will reach a fence that says no authorized vehicles past this point. Continue on the road until you reach a decent sized patch of trees on your right. Here turn north east on the left fork of the road. Shortly after that there is another fork, take the right side. There are two poles on either side of the road. Here it gets fairly steep for quite some time. Follow the road until it flattens out. There is another road that turns right from this road. Follow it back until it ends. Then you will be on a small trail. When you get to the first power lines you want to begin descending into the area.

About 18 feet off the deck, there's a bit of a reach. Really fun and consistent with awesome holds every so often....[more]   Browse More Classics in Utah
