Someone broke into my car this morning and stole my climbing pack. It has a Mammut Fenesse 70 meter, bunch of BD camalots, totems, nuts, Petzl ange draws, crap ton of biners, slings etc.please keep an eye out for items such as these for sale in the area. All items were in good condition in a black Mammut pack. Thanks climbing community. ClimberGirl

That's horrible, but don't be too quick to assume it was a climber - a pawn shop will take almost anything.

Make sure you get a police report, let people know what markings you had on your gear so they can keep an eye out on people trying to sell them, and call your insurance company ASAP if you didn't already. All that gear must be more expensive than your deductible. I had a bunch of camera gear stolen from my car years ago and it was all covered.

This happened to 2 of my friends... both thefts occurred in the Mission District and remarkably... both were able to recover at least some of their gear. Both thefts resulted in the gear being sold on the street in the Mission. Don't underestimate the climbing communities' strength in character as far as helping each other out... a random climber passing by saw a grip of climbing gear being sold on a Mission corner, stopped and inquired about it, paid $40 out of his own pocket for it and then posted the story up on MP and on the Taco... which resulted in one of my buddies getting back half of what he'd lost, which is certainly better than nothing... I've gotten all of my gear stolen out of a car so I empathize with you. I'm not in San Fransisco but I'm sending positive vibes your way and hoping you get your stuff back! BryanE
