Description

This is a group of a dozen or so blocks with relatively short approaches. There are about 35-40 problems in all.

Getting There

From Gloucester, take Main Street (Rt.127) towards Rockport. Near the town line sign, pull off onto the dirt pullout on the right side of the road. This is before you pass the Babson Museum.

Climbing Season

For the Cape Ann area.

This has sharp, crimpy climbing up into an obvious seam with a highball exit. It is pretty classic looking, but the holds down low are in a state of flux. Joel calls this a "soft V11"....[more]   Browse More Classics in MA

This area is sometimes called South Woods.

There is homeless guy who lives off and on in the woods not far from the pull out. I've had some interesting encounters with him. He's friendly but gets a little sketched out by climbers because he thinks we'll call the police. I'd ask climbers to be respectful of this guy and this area because its is his home. You may see some stuff up there that probably belongs to him and should be left alone even if it looks like trash.

Presumably he is the one who has put up signs and decorations proclaiming: "Judah is King".
