Description

To be added....

Tombstone is a bit of a hike. It has 1-3 pitches routes that are a mix of gear and some bolts.

Getting There

Drive to mile marker 28 on Co Hwy 7. Park at the obvious pullout on the north side. Hop, crawl, or squeeze around a chainlink fence (5.2). Run wildly up the rustic driveway into a ravine. Walk upstream looking left for a large gray horn. Swim up the steep slope to the base of the obvious, orange tombstone.

Per Ross Swanson: park at Observatory Rock, and take a trail up Coffintop Gulch past the house below. The trail will end at 2013 flood damage, then pick back up again. After about 15 minutes, head up left at medium-size tree that is "bent" over trail and another evergreen that is dead is seen just beyond (2017). Going upslope is steep and wanders between cliff bands.

Tombstone is below The Graveyard and further up the gulch.

Traverse left after clipping first bolt, continue up small crack, place a green #0.5 Camalot as last piece below crux bolt where crack ends. This is a really hard clip as you are making crux moves, good luck finding edges near bolt.Above the bolt, continue to left to clip another bolt above roof on easier ground that gets progressively more difficult placing medium and small size gear. Once around corner, a #2 gold Camalot protects last bit then up to chains....[more]   Browse More Classics in Colorado
