Screw you and that annoying little...

Ha! Just messing around. Awesome dog.

But hopefully you found the pup tied to the trailhead fence. We were cresting the ridge on the far side of the creek when he came bolting past us up the trail! Must've just been following the wrong gang of smelly dudes. At any rate, that's what happened, that's where we left him.

You tied a strangers dog to a fence?

One of my friends mentioned she was heading to the Gallery today with her dog. I just sent her a message about this post in case it was her pup.

Technically that dog was booty. Ethically, whether your return it or not was up to you, and you did the right thing in this case, but the owners should give you a case of beer or else they will incur kharmic debt. Now this brings up the subject of how much you can trust a dog you just found at the crag. I mean you don't know it's history or anything. Maybe it fell from the top of the cliff and has internal fractures that you can't see. A bootied dog is probably not as dependable as a brand new one.

If there were mountain project awards I'd nominate this post.

Did you read the post? They left him at the trailhead. Sounds like the dog could have headed off down the road otherwise.

I don't understand the criticism of the OP's decision to tie this dog at the trailhead. It probably wasn't going to find its way back on its own. The Calico Hills are convoluted. The OP tied him at a place where he was sure to be found. Better than having him wandering around and getting totally lost, or hit by a car on the loop road.

Sir Tan

Just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to you Mike!

It's actually my buddy's dog, but he's busy, doesn't ever get outside, and so I take his dog out with me so it can run around once in awhile.

I was worried I may have lost another person's dog, and was so relieved to find him at the trailhead!

Is there anyway I can get your sling back to you?

I agree with you. This is precisely the point I was intending to make.

Also, glad the pup made it home safe and sound :)
