The swamp is left of The Bayou and most of the climbs start down near, or in the water. It's typically shady all day because of the tree cover. This area gets the least attention in the park because all of the routes are X rated high balls, or must be protected with a natural anchor and top rope. Its pretty dirty and chossy and has very few routes as of now. It definitely has the potential for some of the best and tallest routes in the park though.

Getting There

Start facing the Pacific Street Wall and head right. look down the cliff into the wet area. everything from the far right where you can walk down into it to the slab that takes you into the start of The Bayou, is The Swamp.

The tallest route at the quarry. This starts off on an arete from some pallets in the water and climbs a hard 5.10 to a horizontal crack where a hard 5.11 move gets you onto the face. The crux is climbing the thin left facing corner to the top. there are two top outs. one goes straight up and the other climbs out right a bit. Definitely has some of the coolest moves I've pulled at Deer creek....[more]   Browse More Classics in California
