The Stadium is the obvious large formation at the ...

This is the highest, largest and left-most formation of Leisure World.

Getting There

Park at Rattlesnake parking lot. Hike back up the road you came in on until just before a service road that goes off to the right (north). Find your way through the wash and jungle of mesquite/desert willows/cat claws until you are in a gully with climbs the hillside just left of The Stadium. Hike up until past the Stadium then back south up the hillside which heads over towards the top of The Stadium. Before you get to the top, look for a notch and narrow corridor which leads to the base of The Stadium. You can also approach in any of two or three steep gullys and scramble directly to the base.

The approach is described well, though it took much longer than the 10-20 minutes described for leisure world as a whole. We did a more direct gully up just to the left of stadium and the gully just to the right on the way down (from the picture). Both required some decent scrambling that was a challenge with packs but nothing too sketchy. Took a little over an hour up and a little under an hour down from the Rattlesnake Canyon parking lot.

The stadium has several low-difficulty sport climbs with good protection and good bolts, though there were some chossy areas on a route or two. For the most part though the rock was pretty nice and quite different from what you see around the hidden valley area. The views from the wall are top notch and we had the place to ourselves in late March with plenty of sun.
