Description

South facing, shady in the mornings. Sits right above a beautiful bend in the Salmon River. Not crowded, mixed gear and bolts on ancient quartzite. Rock is orange and varies from solid fine grained rock to a little flaky and vegetated in places. All routes were bolted onsite ground up so they may be a little sporty, but they are safe and are leadable on single 60/70 m rope with fixed anchors.

Getting There

The slabs are about 35miles north of Stanley, Idaho on hwy75. If approaching from Stanley, go past the old sawmill gas station on the right, continue on highway for another mile or so till a bridge crosses the river. The slabs are visible on the left, a small pull out is available on the west side of road. Park here. If coming from the north, go through clayton(great pub ), then drive another 2/3 miles to same bridge and pull out. Follow a game trail along the river to the base of the cliffs and a steep scree slope. 5 minutes from car. Stay pretty close to the river till you are under the slabs.
