Adam Weiner leads the 1st pitch of the Monitor

Warning Stainless-steel bolts are suspect near the coast. A rebolting effort is underway. MORE INFO >>>

Description

Pitch 1-Start up the line of Titanium bolts, stemming and pulling through the steep crux-5.10d above. 90' to the anchor.
Pitch 2-Continue 4th class into the cave entrance and scramble up the tunnel to the huge cave above. Turn to the left to find the large room with an amazing view out the large "Cave Window" and a bolted anchor
Pitch 3-climb out the left side of the window through steep, classic jugs-5.11, and continue to anchor in the window behind the huge stalactite system.(70 ft)
Pitch 4-Climb up the corner to the top of the pillar-5.10b(70ft)Pitches 3 and 4 can be combined...
Pitch 5-Mount the bulge and follow the bolts up to the cool belay cave. 5.10a(80ft)

Location

From the beach, walk up the road past the Cat Wall. Step up the trail on the left to the Lost Wall, and turn to the left along the cliff to the base of The Monitor Wall...

Protection

Titanium bolts protect this entire climb!! 1-60m rope will be sufficient for the rappels with extreme back-clipping on the 3rd pitch and down-climbing the 2nd "Cave" Pitch. Otherwise, a second rope is needed to rappel out either the belay behind the stalactite or the anchor at the Cave window.
