Description

The middle part of the East Face (from the large corner with the curved top at the north to the beginning of the erosion gully at the south - basically the wide area with the 2 dozen pine trees below).

Although making up the largest mass of the South Canyon there is only one newly established (modern) route here so far. There are some great looking potential face climbs in this area, awaiting discovery… There are also some obvious vertical crack lines in this section which may have been climbed in the past, but there is no publicly shared beta about them. Proceed at your own risk…

Getting There

Approach as for the rest of the South Canyon - a 20 minute hike to the base from the parking area.

Climbing Season

For the Okanogan area.

Weather station 8.8 miles from here

TURNING OF THE TIDE 5.10b ** 80’ F (7b)On the lower right end of this middle section of the long South Face, climb the small buttress to the chains at the lip of the large shrubby lower ledge. Begins with an easy start (5 or 6ish) and gets progressively harder to the tricky crux near the top. Consistently fun climbing on great rock....[more]   Browse More Classics in WA
