Bonesaw did the 4x7

Description

The Mickey's Beach 4x7 is a multi-sport endeavor that will make for an awesome day in Marin and leave you feeling like a wildman by nightfall. The 4x7 breakdown consists of the following done in one day:

-Surf 7 waves
-Run the 7 mile loop from Stinson to the Pantoll
-Climb 7 routes at Mickey's
-Drink 7 beers

Any of these legs (except for the climbing) could be substituted out for another justifiable leg involving the number 7. Kayak 7 miles or bike 70 miles were considered, but I settled on my 4x7 as listed above... you have to choose yours.

Location

The order in which each leg is completed does not matter. I did the following:

1. Surf at Fort Cronkhite (Rodeo Beach). Catch 7 waves.

2. Run the 7 mile Matt Davis/Steep Ravine Loop. Parking can be found up the road from the fire station in Stinson. The road turns into a one-way street up by the trailhead. Make sure that your car is facing the right direction or you will come back to your car with a $250 ticket waiting for you (parking is okay on both sides of the street as long as you are in the right direction). The loop is a pretty popular hike, more details can be found here bahiker.com/northbayhikes/stin...

3. Climb 7 routes at Mickey's. I chose the following in this order:
*Corner Route 5.10
*Walkin' a Thin Line 5.10
*Pelicans 5.12a
*Courtney 5.11d
*Hot Tuna 5.12a
*Left Slab (Torque) 5.11d
*East Face of Peeper's Rock 5.9
Wanted to keep all of the sends on Main Rock, but the tide absolutely drenched my partner and I before we could get a clean send on Nancy. We were literally pouring water out of our climbing shoes before hopping on the wall and made a makeshift plastic chalkbag for the last three routes. We finished Left Slab in almost total darkness then ticked off the 5.9 using my partner's dying cell phone as a headlamp stuffed in a backwards hat with a little bit of tape. Excellent day! Thanks Alan for keeping a smile on your face even when I rocketed you barefoot into 4 feet of water (luckily no barnacle damage).

4. Drink 7 beers. I thought at this point one could chill, but you are so in the tick tick tick mindset all day it felt the same way. I went for Modelos and finished it off with a Sierra.

Enjoy!
