BETA PHOTO: The Bruiser

Description

Bruiser is the right most crack on the Hitman formation and yet another route on the SCMA crack climbing list. A fun route but you will only get a few handjams in towards the top as the route is more of a face climb with natural protection. Protection down low is difficult and the crux is low to boot. A fun climb none the less!

I'd agree, not much of a crack route (except at top); pro a bit tricky until you get past the crux.

A low crux leads to easier climbing higher. This and some of the neighboring routes are somewhat reminiscent of the Thin Wall without the crowds.

The crux is low enough to not worry much about falling far.

Route described as 10c R in old Vogel guide. The moves are not 10c by comparison to other Josh routes. Perhaps the rating is such that you should be a solid 10 leader as to not fuss about the poor pro down low.

Somewhat crappy pro protects exactly one move. Don't fall, but if you did you would probably live... pro might actually hold. Cool moves and nice features. Crux at about 12ft up... the rest is standard fare.

I can think of at least a dozen routes that have more serious starts than this one but yet don't get 'R' or 'S' ratings. Also, this gets my vote for easiest 5.10 crack in the park.

Not much lover for the Bruiser here! I thought it was the best climb on this formation.
