This is a large boulder towards the northeast of the west side trail. It is a similar area as the Hardly Working Boulder. It has a number of potentially good problems.

Getting There

From the visitor center, head down to the Pond, and walk until you reach the old lodge. Take a left, and continue with the pond on your right until you reach the West Side trail (unmarked - you'll know when you reach it). Head up the west side trail, passing the West Side Boulder, until you see the Hardly Working Boulder in the woods to your left (just before the French Trailhead). Head right, off the trail, downhill, and you will see a large boulder a couple hundred feet in. Most of the good problems will be on the back side. You shouldn't miss it, but don't get lost. It may be easier to see from a hundred or so feet up the French Trail.

Do the same start as The Alcove Arete, but before the first good ledge, cut out right and rock over to top out on the slab using different pinches and sidepulls. Keep right of the solid green line in the photo for full credit....[more]   Browse More Classics in Massachusetts

Dan, glad you added this boulder, it is a fun one. I climbed these problems, the front fin-like arête, and a few other easier problems on the other side many years ago. I don't mind if you name them (they may have even been climbed before I did them), but they have been climbed in the past. I also worked on a project that starts sitting to the left that was really hard (I thought V10+ at the time).

Oh Awesome! I figured they must have been climbed before, but I was surprised not to see them anywhere online. I'll edit in your name; what do you like to call them? I took a look at that harder line, seemed above my level by quite a bit. Do you know if it's still an open project?
