Attempting the traverse next week

If you've been up on any of the peaks, I'd appreciate recent snow conditions (crampons?) and availability of liquid water (location).

Much thanks,
Mike

I'm hitting the Teton Crest Trail this Thursday, I'll let you know what I see, Everyone in Jackson is talking like not much snow at all. (one of the lightest in several years) However, standing water, I'm not sure.

on the GT there was plenty of water, pretty much everywhere. snow work isn't bad. we had one small tool (perfect) and shared a pair of crampons (won't be doing that again!). I imagine there will be less snow in Aug, but it could be harder ice? Worth an extra pound.

Thanks for the conditions update. I am planning on an attempt over Labor Day weekend (new job so limited on vacation), so I would greatly appreciate an update from Dave S or anyone else out there late Aug. Guessing the snowfields will be icy by then. Thanks in advance.

So are you saying cramps are not necessary any more or that you wish you'd brought two sets?
Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
