Along the way, Teewinot to Owen, winter.

Description

The eastern most peak of the Cathedral Group, Teewinot dominates the view from both the Jenny lake campground and visitors area and the Lupine Meadows parking lot where it completely eclipses the Grand Teton. The abrupt view from the summit of the north face of the Grand and the east side of Mt Owen is, to understate the case, inspiring -- Rossiter used it for the cover of his select guidebook.

Getting There

Most ascents will be via the east face starting at the Lupine Meadows parking lot.

Northwest Ridge 5.7+ 5a 15 V+ 13 MVS 4b  WY : Grand Teton National Park : Teewinot
In the north cirque between Teewinot and Owen, you will see two prominent ribs coming down, the left of which is the NW ridge of Teewinot. The right comes from a small prominence on the saddle between the two mountains. Both ribs cliff out precipitously with a waterfall between them and overhanging sections. To circumvent this, carefully ascend just far enough up the couloir on the west side of the right rib to gain ledges leading around the front of the rib, after which you can cross over to th...[more]   Browse More Classics in WY
