Description

A small dome with a few short, interesting climbs. Rock quality is excellent except for the hollow-sounding flakes on the far right. Owing to the short nature of the routes, old bolts, loose hangers and a small amount of bushwhacking, I don't think this little piece of rock sees much action. It's a nice, out-of-the-way spot to hang out though, especially if other areas are crowded. Similar aspect as the other crags at Indian Springs. It is possible to scramble around and set up a TR, though the bolts and anchors are past-due for replacement. There is one fairly new, solid bolt at the anchors of the middle crack to back up the older hardware. With very long slings, it may be possible to build anchors above the climbs to back-up the older bolts. "5.10 left" would be a fun lead with up-dated hardware.

Getting There

Begin at the pull-out for the main area. Instead of heading left on the climbers trail to the lower, middle, and upper tiers, take a right and scramble uphill, vaguely paralleling the road, heading in the direction of Beeline Slab. Look for the largest feature and head there. The dome is characterized by a taller, steeper left side with good rock, bisected by a hand-sized crack and a shorter section on the right with a bush on top. You can just see the top of the dome from the parking lot. It is possible to scramble around and set up a TR, though the bolts and actors need replacement. There is one fairly new, solid bolt at the top of the middle crack to back up the older hardware.

A fun climb on great rock. Edges, crimps and smears. Would be a really exciting lead with new hardware....[more]   Browse More Classics in California

If anyone has any info on these routes, please share and I'll update. This little area would be a fun diversion with a little love. Current hardware, except for one bolt, is unsuitable
