Super Rock is a location with tons of potential. Anthony Parker Lugo has put some serious work into this location, making it climbable for everyone. The name came from the area being called "Supper Rock". Super Rock just sounds cooler.

This hill side has so many rocks. Even though Anthony Parker Lugo has invested tons of hours developing this location, there is still so much more to be found. We still go out there to just hike and find new boulders. We have come across tons of easy climbs but also climbs that are so difficult that we couldn't touch them.

Super Rock is still a young climbing location. Done be surprised if you get on something and it breaks. This isn't U-Mound where it has been climbed on hundreds or even thousands of times and what was going to break has probably already broken.

Super Rock is broken into large sections. Bravo is the easiest to get to and most developed. By exploring a bit deeper into Zulu or Kilo, you will find way more climbs.

I will be working on getting some of the main boulders posted here, but for quick updates please follow Anthony's Facebook page.

Getting There

Go east on I-40 from anywhere in town. Get off at Tramway and turn north until you reach Encantado Rd NE (first light). Turn right onto Encantado, Take that road and turn right onto Oakwood Rd. From that road turn left onto Piedras Rd. Now turn Right onto Camino De La Sierra. This road will take you to the road side parking next to the trail head. Turn around and park next to the Trail.

To get to the boulders, take the main trail for about 5-10 minutes until you walk around the hill side. This should bring you to the bottom on Bravo. Continue down the main trail or head up the Bravo trail to get to the other climbing spots.

The hulk is one of the best climbs out at super rock. Slide down the rock underneath the hulk to the slopy start. Make your way our right using the bad slopers. Reach up to the next rail of jugs. Work your way out left coming out of the roof. Now move onto the crimp section to the top out....[more]   Browse More Classics in New Mexico
