A very high concentration of routes can be found in this area. There is only one 5.9 the rest are considerably harder. On a busy day all the routes will be taken yet Sunrise Area may only have a few climbers. The routes here tend to be overhanging and long.

Getting There

After crossing the suspension bridge while headed towards the small village of Mukaicho (where the fishing boats are docked and the scuba diving school is located) Sunrise area will be the last area you come to before stepping back into civilization. The climbers path is blocked by a fence, hop the fence and scramble down the hillside about 20' where you will come upon a very substantial rappel anchor. Lower off about 50' to the big ledge from there follow the climbers trail down to the very rocky beach. Sunset Area will be the cliffs to your left as you are facing the ocean.

Climbing Season
