BLM Managed Lands at Castle Rocks PERMANENTLY CLOSED TO CLIMBING!! Castle Rocks State Park lands are OPEN TO CLIMBING MORE INFO >>>

Description

This secluded formation can be found about 300yards East by Northeast of the Sorcerer's Stone. The climbs are west facing. The rock is good and varied. The formation gets its name from a rock formation on the summit that looks like Stonehenge (when viewed from the BLM highpoint rock).

Getting There

Thirty minute approach from the parking lot. This formation is the next large formation up the east side of the gully after the Blarney Stone (i.e. about 10 minutes up gully from Bracksieck's Pillar. This formation is not at Castle Rock. It is about 20-25 minutes NE of Castle Rock.

All natural line with some surprises. The crux is a very interesting and unexpected move at the short left jog indicated in the photo at about 40% up the route. The first pitch ends about 20' after the short jog. Many potential lines, all easy (5.5 to 5.7) to the summit. Photo shown with 'Where the Banshees lie'....[more]   Browse More Classics in Idaho
