|The land near these landmarks is a patchwork of public and private.|
The Cooney Hills are some low lying "hills" or domes of granite about 9 miles south west of Wheatland. They offer bouldering and some short climbs usually near their summits. The rock here is kind of grainy and sharp. One can find some low grade rubies in some of the talus base.
Squaw Rock is the pinnacle summit that sits high in the higher mountains west accross a grassly valley from the Cooney Hills. Squaw Rock sits on Squaw Mountain and offers some crack routes to it's summit.
On WY 34 near MM39 turn off north through a wire gate onto BLM land. Use the map with waypoints and the colored land status map to further navigate to the area of your choice.

I have not seen a copy, but maybe there is one at Coe Library, UW under lock and key....[more] Browse More Classics in Wyoming
