Past the South End walls of the Main Wall is a scrappy "trail" which leads one down into the mysterious depths of The Southern Walls. Small clusters of shorter routes and some moderate grades can be found in isolated areas, though don't expect any trails per se, more like vague suggestions.

Cool lines do exist for those wishing to escape a crowded Main Wall. Right now, The Grotto is the first little area you will come to. It's hard to miss. Just past The Grotto by a few minutes is The Thing Area, with the Deep South being the furthest area from the Main Wall.

Getting There

Hike/scramble down rudimentary trails never straying far from the cliff band. Keep your eyes peeled.

Eventually you will round the black arête to the left. Get established on the face, and do a few thin moves to the juggy roof....[more]   Browse More Classics in Arizona
