Southern Blonde is a SW facing triangle shaped formation located about 0.8 miles, heading south on Horseshoe Meadows Rd. "What a Face" (5.9***), "Cajun Spice Girls" (5.9***) and "Dick See Chicks" (5.10a***). Two unnamed routes lie on a boulder, a short distance up and right of this formation. Both are bolted. The left one is (5.10c) and the right (5.10b).

This is a new-ish route with three distinct cruxes. The climbing is interesting and challenging and harder than it looks. All the clipping stances are great, but it's nice to stick clip the first bolt as a fall into the slot below would be nasty. Folks who know this route, please feel free to amend, change, fix anything I'm posting!...[more]   Browse More Classics in California

Even though the formation is south facing, this isn't the best cold-weather crag because the climbs start out of a tight corridor at the base, leaving the belayer to suffer in the shade.
