  • Description

This scruffy crag is an East-facing crag. The West side is generally considered to be part of The Sacred Cliffs.

The East slabs are interrupted by gullies, trees, and overhangs the size of houses in various places but generally run from the base in Bear Canyon, nearly at the creek, all the way up to the summit of the mountain, gaining easily over 1000' of elevation, and probably spanning about a mile.

Yet, there is scant mention of climbing on it, and there is only one indistinct documented line.

This is because the area is a long trek in and seldom visited. You can expect to be alone if you go back there.

The rock is less traveled than most routes - in fact, virtually untraveled. Since only a handful of climbers have ever been on it, and it is a 400-600' face spanning much of a mile, even being in the right ballpark of a previously climbed route is probably going to mean a bit of fresh territory.

Despite all of this, we were able to find solid rock, a pleasant route, and continuous climbing.

The views and position are fantastic and are the real draw.

    Getting There

This area can be approached via a cross country trek from the West Summit of Dinosaur Mountain, or from the Bear Canyon Trail, just to the Southeast of lowest point (Southern) of the rock.
No matter what, there is no trail, and shoes/socks/long pants are advised.
