South Sister is the third highest peak in Oregon. It has several glaciers and at least nine routes. The most popular route is the South Side Route.
Expect crowds on the weekends.
The rock is volcanic crap.
From Bend, take the Cascade Lakes Highway west about 6.5 miles, past Mount Bachelor ski resort, to the Devils Lake
Northwest Forest Pass required.

This is the direct route on the north side of South Sister from the Chambers Lakes area. It is also the most common route of ascent for climbers hoping to enchain Middle and South Sisters in a day.
