This is a small canyon at the end of the valley that the city of Brasov is in. It is a "popular" area because it is close to the city. There is not a large number of climbers in Romania in comparison to Western Europe but this area is one of the more popular areas in the country. It contains about 5+ cliff faces/aretes of limestone with a max height of approximately 250'. It is very accessible and has some of Romania's oldest sport routes. Many routes have hand made hangers. Most routes are on the difficult side.

Getting There

Take the bus to the end of the valley from Brasov, or take a taxi. The valley will get narrower and narrower until the road ends with a picnic area. The Solomon Rocks are very popular with the picnic crowd in the warm weather.

The crux is only 15' off the ground and it is well protected so you could aid it if you need. It goes straight up to a fin that pokes out with a shitty-placed new bolt put right on the edge of the fin. From here go right and use the razor sh...[more]   Browse More Classics in International
