OK I'll try this one last time.
I've asked on RC.com and that place is dead.
I asked on SuperTopo and apparently that place is just jammed full of keyboard dickheads.

Let's see how MP goes.

Im visiting SoCal in late March early April and would like to visit a few gyms and get some coaching. Coaching here is limited.
I'll have a week free and want to know if there are any gyms between Lake Elsinore and San Diego that might have good coaching. I currently climb 17/18 in Australia and would like to lift my game a bit.

I hope I can get some reasonable responses here.
Thanks

Because when i looked at the SoCal description it appeared to be mostly based on outdoor sites. Not general climbing

I resemble that remark.....

Most people on the Taco started climbing way before the thought of a COACH for climbing was dreamed up....we just put in the time.... the school of hard rock.

or

maybe your snarky web style, just put some people off, anyway, why don't you call some of the fine gyms located in SD, orange county or LA and ask them yourself....shouldn't be to difficult.

Welcome to California.

If at all possible go to Colorado, Boulder specifically, for your trip.

You can cruise the Whole Foods and find any number of actual climbing coaches or climbers who think they can coach you.

Also.... then you don't have to go to SoCal.

In all seriousness though, check out Mesa Rim if you're in San Diego. Good people over there.

Anywhere except Mesa Rim. A bunch of kids who have no real experience, and over crowded. Vertical Hold has a much more experienced staff, with the added benefit of not being assholes. Kyle Edmondson

Norman Montes. He's in LA either out of L.A.B. or Rockreation. He is pretty amazing at analyzing movement. And he can actually climb hard. I'm sure you can find him on the book of face. Rob Gordon

So my snarky web style.
Asking if anyone has any info on getting coaching when i visit SoCal is snarky?Fair enough.

As to why don't I ask them myself, Well oddly enough it is on my list of things to do. However given I don't know ANY of the gym in SoCal nor do I know the quality of service and or coaching they may or may not provide. I thought it prudent to ask in a forum supposedly dedicated to helping inform other folks about climbing. What ever was I thinking.

Why on earth would a term like "coaching" be an issue in a sport? Every sport has coaches.
It's a seemingly simple and civil request.
The amount of derision it has caused is baffling.

The name change this is not my doing, I logged in with my FB account and it changed the user name.

So just got home from from my US trip.
Found some fellow skydivers who climb and visited a couple of crags and gyms.
Played about at Joshua tree, Echo Cliffs and Stoney Point and visited Rock fitness in Murrieta and Mesa Rim in San Diego.
Rock Fitness is a great gym with a lot of diverse activities. Mesa Rim is amazing with near 60' walls and 80 foot lead routes. Easily twice the size of anything indoors here.
Had a great time and made some good connections. Ill be back next year. :)
