Closures for Peregrine Falcon Protection
MORE INFO >>>
Always check the
Yosemite website Peregrine Closure page
for the most current details, and to learn more about the peregrine falcon, and how closures help it survive.
The following areas are identified as cliffs closed to visitor use, including climbing activities, as of late July 2016:
Arch Rock Area
– Lower Merced River Gorge. All routes at Arch Rock are closed until August 1, 2016
Fairview Dome, West Face
– Closure includes all routes between and including Heart of Stone to Lucky Streaks, until August 1, 2016. All other routes remain open.
Glacier Point Apron
is open to climbing, but the Park Service's website does not recommend climbing there "due to recent and ongoing rockfall."
This information is a public crowdsourcing effort between the Access Fund, and Mountain Project.
You should confirm closures, restrictions, and/or related dates.
Keeping climbing areas open and conserving the climbing environment
Stand start and climb the seam straight up.
