This is a fort, an hour drive from Pune. There are 9 or 10 short sport routes, at least one established trad route and more trad possibilities. Some of the bolted routes can be climbed purely on trad. Early mornings 6:30 to 10 or afternoons 14hrs onwards are best climbing times. Views are spectacular. Routes are technical and grades range from French 5b or YDS 5.8 to French 7b+ or YDS 5.12c. All routes can be climbed with a 50m rope. Weekdays are quiet but weekends and holidays can be very crowded. Rock is basalt like everywhere else in Maharashtra. Usually windy but sunny. This crag was developed by veteran climbers Vikas Satarkar, Bhushan Joshi and Michael Kropac and some new additions by Samiran Kolhe.

More info can be found at

Getting There

Drive to the parking lot of the fort. From there an easy trail leads to the Kalyan Darwaza (Kalyan gate), keep following that trail to get to the climbs.

This is a great route. It starts with a left lay back crack after which you have to go left to a ledge and up to the anchors. First bolt is quite high and there's quite a bit of run out between the fourth and fifth bolts where a cam can be placed in the right crack....[more]   Browse More Classics in International
