Shortcrack Lump Rock Climbing
BETA PHOTO: Shortcrack Lump.
This is a south-facing, solitary formation that sits on the hillside between Kids' Wall and Whistler's Mother. It has one apparent short, right-leaning hand-crack facing the road (though not visible from the highway). It sees almost no traffic, as the few possible routes on it are too short to hold much interest to most climbers.
Park ~4.2 miles up the canyon (from the T-intersection in Lyons) in the large pullout on the river-side.
Approach as for Whistler's mother, and cut up and right. Scramble short low-angle slab/boulders to the rock. Alternately, approach as for Kids' Wall, and trend left and down.
Either way, you're going to do some bushwhacking for 10 minutes or so.
Climbing Season For the South Fork of St. Vrain Canyon area.

Continue for a few more crack moves and onto a series of ledges, making contrived moves to increase the difficulty. Finish on the top of the formation....[more] Browse More Classics in CO
