Sesame Street Rock Climbing
The main wall at Sesame Street Cliffs, Bear Creek,...
Sesame Street is a high alpine sport climbing crag in a picturesque location up above the Bear Creek trail. Several massive pieces of cliff (Telluride Conglomerate) dislodged from higher up, creating a unique climbing area. There are currently around 20 climbs from 5.7-5.13d with the potential for more. There is a high concentration of hard sport climbs in the 5.12+ range on the main face.
If you walk around the main face into the cave area, there is an overhanging section (behind the main face) with several harder sport climbs and another cliff face with a concentration of long 5.10 routes.
Hike up the Bear Creek Trail to the Wasatch Trail Intersection (before the waterfalls/massive boulder). Hike up the first few switchbacks of the Wasatch trail until you reach the base of the Wasatch Trail Wall which has a distinguishable arete (there's a cool 5.11+ climb on the arete - bolts/gear). When hiking north (looker's right) below the arete/cliff, follow a faint trail heading north when the Wasatch Trail switches back towards the south. Pass a big, overhanging, muddy/sandstone wall, then after some steep switchbacking, you'll pass a cool, overhanging, 100 foot long boulder cliff (there's 5.12 traverse route on this) with a prominent, overhanging prow. This is more or less the halfway point on the faint trail towards the main cliff at Sesame Street. It is a 50+ minute total approach from the trailhead in town.
