BETA PHOTO: Selcouth's south and east faces.

Description

Selcouth is a fantastic boulder made of high quality sandstone and aesthetic lines. Landings that surround the boulder are very good. The boulder's main draw is its east facing lip traverse, but there may be something the south facing lip traverse as well.

Getting There

It is located in the Southie Area. From the parking area, head downhill, cross East Creek, head up toward the Mecca Boulder on the dirt track, continue past the boulder about 50 yards, and then head uphill toward the cliff. Below the cliff, there is a foot path, head in a southwesterly direction, and the boulder will be on the right. It lies just to the southwest of two of the biggest blocks in the entire Mecca area. It is best to just look at the page map. It's tough to explain, this one is pretty far out there.

Kalon V3 6A  Colorado : Grand Junction Area : ... : Selcouth Stone
Kalon is a short but sweet problem that traverses a gorgeous overhanging lip on perfect stone over an equally good landing. Stand start with hands matched on the east facing lip as far to the south while still being able to throw a heel on as well. From there, traverse up and to the right along the lip using the depressions and bumps. Once it flattens out, throw a heel on top, commit to the mantle, and top it out....[more]   Browse More Classics in Colorado
