Description

A widely used area, popular with abseilers due to permanent top anchors set up by guiding services. Mostly trad with a few bolted (high-level) climbs. The sport routes have some carrot bolts, some hangers. Some trad routes have the odd carrot protecting a difficult move. It's possible to set up TRs on this section.

Getting There

Follow guidebook instructions.

This climb pretty quickly runs out of pro after the inital three pieces. There's a big flake on the left that can be strung and then it's pretty much wander up to the lip and place a Friend before the pull over. Big holds but big air if you blow it. ...[more]   Browse More Classics in International

Ab-squealers? Carrot bolts?

"Ab-squealers? Carrot bolts?"

Ab-squealers are abseilers or rappellers. Carrot bolts are machine bolts with the threads ground and tapered and pounded into a slightly undersized hole (same idea as drilled angles). Carrot bolts are usually found without a hanger, which means you'll need to carry some keyhole hangers as well.

Yeah, sorry Ron; I copied my original info without thinking that not everyone knows what those things are. I'll go in and make an adjustment.
