Nice buttress directly next to the bear claw wall. The belay point for both routes is right on the north side of the road. Look for the start of the two routes separated by a big bush.

Getting There

Stand at the base of the bear claw wall, turn around and face east. The sacred grounds buttress is directly to the east across the gully used to scramble to set up top rope on bear claw.

Featured Route For Sacred Ground Buttress

Wounded Knee 5.9 5c 17 VI 17 HVS 5a  Montana : Indian Creek : Sacred Ground Buttress
Starts left of the big bush then connects with Twelve Nations. The route wanders slightly left around a bulge then moves back right to a nice flake. One of my favorite routes at Indian Creek with multiple variations that use a wide variety of techniques, a great test piece for new leaders....[more]   Browse More Classics in Montana
