This is named for the obvious, large roof that looms over this section of the wall. This area has mostly 5.12 - 5.13s. It has one of the highest concentrations of difficult routes in Durango.

Getting There 

Follow the approach trail into the canyon. Hike past the Canyon Entrance area, and look for the very obvious, large roof.

El Jefe is a mega-fun 20 foot extension to the mega-fun, .12d La Cantina. Like all the big routes on the Roof Wall, there is an 8 foot band of junk rock. Other than that one section, the rock quality is good to fantastic. Expect very physical climbing on mostly good holds.
