Description Suggest change

Located in Great Falls, SC, the Rocky Creek trail (part of the Carolina Thread Trail system) allows free public access to a lovely 1.5 mile hiking trail, canoe launch, and quarried rock waterfall. There are also several dozen small rounded granite boulders yielding scores of SDSs, mantles, slaps, slopes, and even a few jugs. Several of the "eggs" remind one of the boulders found at ATL's Boat Rock area.

To date the bouldering is moderate, lowball, and within 0-10 minutes of the parking lots. While access is currently not an issue with any routes published here, there has been Zero official conversations with land management. Enjoy the lovely Rocky Creek, keep a quiet low profile, pack out other's trash, and you are unlikely to have any awkward conversations.

Getting There Suggest change

I-77 N from Columbia. Exit 48 onto SC HWY 200 E to Great Falls. 4+ miles. Take a left N onto US 21 to Great Falls. 1+ miles to the bridge over Rocky Creek. Large Parking lot (where rednecks are made) is on your right immediately after the bridge. If you get to a large graveyard or Great Falls you've gone too far.

There is a "picnic area" pullout on the right at mentioned graveyard if you pass the Trailhead parking. This turnabout is inexplicably public access (for redneck procreation?) And contains 3-4 good boulders and a dozen easy problems. 2 seconds from the car.
