This is a very historic crag for the area and the Grenoblois have been climbing here for many decades. The crag is about 20 feet from the road and it is just absolutely impossible to find easier access. There are about 9 different walls to choose from with climbs from anywhere between 30 foot beginner climbs, to 400 feet of multi-pitch sport.

The rock has a nice variety of styles to it. You can find arete, slab, crack, face, and overhung climbing. I've found that on the easier sections of rock it is quite polished which makes the grades a little stiff, as with Fontaine and other popular sectors.

The road is not very busy so noise from cars is not a huge concern. It is in a residential area so city noise is relatively non-existent as well. Sometimes groups of kids and others in climbing schools will come to the road-side crags and it can be sometimes crowded.

Getting There

The road-side crags are just that: roadside. Very easy access. Some of the more numerous climbs on the right of the initial wall have some trails to get to, but nothing should take longer than 10 minutes to hike to.

Climbing Season

For the Northern Alps area.
