A moderate boulder cluster on the South side of the reserve. Roaring Rocks is less popular than the areas on the North side, possibly due to the longer walk to get there and a sparseness of low-level problems. Despite this, the rock is in pretty good shape. There are some much taller boulders here than the North side, so if you're looking for a high-ball, this is the spot.

Getting There

See the Sourland Mountain Reserve trail map. The boulders are marked on the map on the South side.

The fastest way to get here from the parking lot is to go up the steep trail that follows the pipeline. Turn left onto the Ridge Trail (#5 on the map) and this trail should lead you straight to the boulders. Make sure not to join onto one of the C (connecting) trails.
