Description

A nice, but somewhat dirty (lichen) and dated (old fixed pro), collection of moderate trad and sport climbs in a beautiful alpine setting. Generally solid granite, but there are some crumb-lies and loose pieces.

Getting There

Reed Lakes trail from Archangel Road. Take the trail for ~2.5 miles from the Reed Lakes trailhead as it goes up and behind the Snowbird Slab and crosses the creek on boulders. After the creek crossing and a short steeper section of trail the Reed Creek Wall will be to your left just off the trail.

Climbing Season

For the Hatcher Pass area.

Weather station 15.3 miles from here

A fun, steep sport route on relatively clean Hatcher granite. Sustained 5.10 climbing with generally crimpy holds and some fun very fun technical and pumpy movement. There are multiple somewhat cruxy moves, with what is probably the more definite crux at the top pulling over the transition from the steep face to a lower angled face-slab below the tundra ledge top out. There is a bit of crumbly rock on small holds and flakes to be aware of, which could make for a good whipper on the somewhat w...[more]   Browse More Classics in Alaska
