RAIN AND WET ROCK The sandstone in Red Rocks is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. MORE INFO >>>

Description

One of the higher summits in the middle of the Calicos, surrounded by interesting rock situations with fun scrambling sequences and some thoughtful navigation.

name is from Courtney Purcell's print guidebook, Rambles & Scrambles.
. . (also known as "Point 4608").

So far we know of these main routes:
. . . (perhaps easiest, and likely useful as descent).

. . . (also useful as a descent, lots of interesting scrambling, gets more difficult higher up).

. . . (sustained exposed lower section leads to fun ridge).

. . . (at least one difficult crux sequence, lots of interesting scrambling).

also ...
. . . (Link-Up? could be preceded by traverse of the Calico South Ridge).

The Courtney Purcell book suggests a SouthEast ridge route. We're not sure of the details - ? perhaps it is a (better) variation of the ESE gully route?

Lots of interesting scrambling. The route up to Red Book Point from the east side of the Calicos with the least amount of difficult climbing and navigation. Worth getting to know first to later use as a descent from another route from the east side.. . (the print guidebook by Courtney Purcell mentions a "Southeast Ridge" route. We're not sure where that goes, but perhaps it's a variation on this route).route: Exit lef...[more]   Browse More Classics in Nevada
