Description

Rarely climbed, strong sun from late morning to late afternoon.

Getting There

Enter at Spyglass. Walk downhill from Taco Deli, turn right toward Great/New Wall. About a ten minute walk and this task wall with two bolted routes is up a series of limestone 'steps' on your right, about 100 yards before New Wall. The route on the right, four bolts, is a stout 5.9. The route on the left is a 5.10d, five bolts, crux in last eight feet.

Easy, open climbing up until above the third bolt. The crux, which is significantly harder than the rest of the route, earns the 10d rating (at least) and occurs between the last (fifth) bolt and the anchor chains. Belayers be careful of loose belays above the fifth bolt, as the ledge beneath the fourth presents a mild fall hazard. Anchor holds may be chossy/flakey, so get yourself certain before pulling out clip slack. This route can also be top-roped by traversing left from the anchor cha...[more]   Browse More Classics in Texas

Watch out for falling rocks. Moderate wind today sent some good size rocks flying down.
