Kids playing on Rainshadow Crack, the 7 Mile Class...

Description

The obvious face crack just left of Unemployment Line. Contains great lay-backs and jams. As this crack sees traffic, gear has become more reasonable so it really is a PG climb now. A couple bolts were added to the top section making for a fun, direct finish. The FA traversed right on a ledge at about the mid way point. The second pitch continues up the slab above with nice exposure.

Location

Rainshadow Area. Just past the Cave Overhang

Protection

Gear to 3"/5 bolts

Best 5.10 crack in Skagit County, yet only sees a handful of ascents per year.

Like others have said, arguably the best 5.10 crack in Skagit. Also makes for a great, clean aid climb. If I were to give it an aid rating, I would call it C1+ tricky.

Best crack in Skagit, also truly a great climb in general. Safe. Requires a tricky placement or two, but solid. Very clean right now.
