  • Description

This is the gully that's been mainly explored. It has two waterfalls at the top, before the two gullies merge, that are about 8 to 12 feet tall. At the bottom, there are two waterfalls stacked on top of each other, for a total height of about 25-30 feet. This area receives sun for the end of the day, and has a spectacular place to watch the sunset from at the top of the bluff. Be careful of broken glass and the sharp/slippery rocks.

    Getting There

When you get to Newell Shortcut Rd, drive past the turn to the radio antenna just past it. Park here, then follow the left side fence until the woods clear up. Be very careful, as it goes from relatively flat to near vertical very quickly. Follow the edge of the canyon back towards the waterfall, and rappel down. If you want to expedite the process, you walk towards the river and rappel down into the valley in one 70 foot rappel, depending on where you anchor. Head up valley for the shorter climbs, and down valley for the longer climb.

    Climbing Season

    For the Southwestern Highlands area.
