Smaller walls and boulders above Picatinny and below the Books Tier

Known climbing includes

. . . (Crazy Tree is right next to The Shelves sector of the Books Tier area).

Name is another location from the Lenni-Lenape native Americans. The Kittatinny ridge is the section of the Appalachian mountain range (from Georgia to Maine) which passes through the northwest corner of New Jersey. It has the highest summits in the state of New Jersey, from the Delaware Water Gap to High Point.

Getting There

Two ways to get here:
a) From the junction of Tower Wall tier trail and the Good Book access trail, go steep up NE about 100 feet. At the top of the steep section, for the lower tier of Kittatinny turn off Left and go 260 ft NW roughly horizontal across the top of the Wichquawanck + Nechtanc. For the higher tier continue past the top of steep section on the trail for short ways flat, then head off left.

b) First go to Basilisk sector, then around its right (east) end, up past Manayunk sector and scramble N steep gully between Manayunk and Tulpehocken sectors to a gentler part at NW end of a wide flat ledge. For the lower tier of Kittatinny, turn right and walk flat. FOr the upper tier, next scramble N up another steep gully and see two blocky cliffs which are on the Books Tier. A ways below those turn Right into the upper tier of Kittatinny.

Fun climbing, but since it slants so much, not so good for top-roping.Start up the 2-foot-wide gully, then follow ramp / groove / crack trending way Alternate handle for one of seven dwarfs - (why not "dwarves"?).warning: The rock on and around this route has not been climbed much yet, and much of the rock is still breakable and loose -- so the belayer and other people should stand far away from underneath the climber - (and if possible, behind a large tree). . . .
