Prospect Wall Rock Climbing
BETA PHOTO: The routesetters kindly left a summit register wit...
A prominent slab on Butterfly Peak. This wall can be seen from the road and is quite impressive in size. Many steep slab climbs, mostly in the 5.10-11 range with a few moderates in the mix. Most climbs involve a combination of bolts and gear so make sure to bring a light trad rack.
There are more crags off the approach trail worth a look.
Special thanks to Kelly and Kendall Vaught, and Frank Bentwood who's industrious efforts beginning 2002 made this area a very worthwhile outing.
A 60 Meter rope is just barely suitable for some of the rappels. Bring a 70 Meter rope if you have one.
Exit Butterfly Peak Road from the 74. Left on Table Mountain Road. Your first right will be a private drive. Park on Table Mtn. Road and walk up the private drive to a dirt road going uphill. Follow this road uphill to a sharp right bend. At this bend follow a nice trail off the left side of the bend to the prospect wall.

In an attempt to climb directly up the main face we discovered this fun route. Start as for Salted but veer right at the base of the slab. Tend up a left facing scoop past some cruxy moves to the base of a crack coming out of the cave. There pop up and right to follow that crack into the cave. Follow the crack up and out of the cave to the Salted rap anchor. There are some cruxy moves that require some interesting lieback skills. After debating whether the route was 5.8 or 5.9 we put 5.8D on...[more] Browse More Classics in CA

This Wall is really not worth the hike not unless your from the area and maybe want to try somthing that is not in Idyllwild. Even still most of the time this wall is balls hot and not to much of a reward for the long hike. But Since no one ever looks at this place none of this matters anyway.
