Description

This a section of short steps, which create several pitches in all, totaling 450 feet. Keep in mind, this is mostly WI1 (with large flat belays) in between short WI2 pitches. The longest pitch of ice is the last, with maybe 50 feet of WI2. You can descend by down-climbing the south side of the gulley, or just rap from V-threads or trees in the area. Several trees may have tat from prior seasons. Be careful, a 50 meter rope will barely get you to the bottom of some steps, and you may have to rap off the ends of your rope with a few feet left.

Avalanche consequence is low to moderate, but always evaluate snow pack/conditions yourself!

Location

The base of the route is 1,000 feet east/northeast of the main Alpental parking lot. You can also access by following the drainage that runs north/northeast from in between the two "Snoqualmie Pass Hideaways" buildings.

Approach time varies on the snow conditions. If you're snowshoeing through several feet of powder, it takes 45-60 minutes. Otherwise, a 15 minute approach is reasonable.

Protection

Several screws of various sizes. You might be able to place some gear with low snow loads, or a picket with high snow.
